Overview

Overview#

Community Success Hours applies when 2i2c is working directly with a community in a collaborative partnership. It allows us to allocate limited but dedicated staff to work closely with a community to reach specific outcomes or goals.

Note

Commmunity Success Hours

  • Foster strong partnerships between 2i2c and community leaders.

  • Enable communities to build capacity using open tools.

  • Provide dedicated consulting, meeting participation, documentation support, and more.

When Business Development identifies that a community may benefit from an increased level of service beyond what is offered in our Interactive Computing Service and Technical Support, BD should consider 2i2c’s Community Success Hours as an option.

If software engineering or feature development is the goal, a different 2i2c service is more appropriate so that explicit deliverables can be as laid out in a scope of work. Community Success Hours is most appropriate where 2i2c is committing to participating in a community or a project with well defined time bounds on the nature of that commitment. Some examples may include:

  • Dedicated consultation and guidance on open source science and tools

  • Dedicated consultation and community participation in open science

  • Regular participation in community led meetings

  • Peer support through a dedicated channel

  • Configuration of community maintained software environments

  • Technical support beyond our regular support@2i2c.org channel.

Community Success Hours is meant for allocating relatively small fractions of an FTE and not designed to be used for secondments or subcontracting of 2i2c team members.

Objective of the Service#

2i2c’s mission is to grow a global network of community hubs for interactive learning and discovery. Community Success Hours is one approach for 2i2c to help a specific research and education communities create and develop an interactive computing platform that gives communities a digital home to create and share knowledge with a global network of communities to learn from.
